Help us by Donating!

Computers for the Blind provides access to technology for visually impaired individuals. Your donations directly help that cause by providing the computers we ship to them, or funds to help refurbish the systems. You could also donate your time and come help build the computers we ship! All donations are tax deductible, and we can provide a receipt. Find the ways you can help below.

Equipment Donation? Interested in Volunteering?

Every monetary donation we receive goes directly to helping us refurbish the computers. It costs about $150 to refurbish a computer, including memory, hard drives, power adapters and even bubble wrap. You can send us a donation through PayPal, or through the mail. You can even check with your company to see if they match charity donations!

Volunteer your Time

We need help building the computers that we ship out. We will provide hands-on training in our build process and you may even learn a bit about how computers work! Due to current restrictions, we are limited to how many volunteers we have in our center. After you sign up on our website through the link below, go to SignUp Genius to sign up for the actual time slot that you will attend. All new volunteers need to attend a training session before they start building, which we offer the first 30 minutes of each shift. (12-12:30om weekdays, 10-10:30am Saturdays) We will not be able to offer training later in the day. Volunteers can sign up for whatever days work best for them, and are not required to stay the entire shift. We do recommend setting aside 4-5 hours because that is generally the time it takes to build a computer.

What to expect

Donate Computer Parts

Our organization depends on donations to be able to build computers for blind individuals. If you have equipment that you can donate, please see below on how to proceed. Also, if you know other people who have unused equipment, or even companies that are ready to recycle their old machines, please refer them to us! Every donation is tax deductible and we can provide donation receipts.

Computer specs we are looking for:

Modern Processor
Ability to install 8GB Memory
Functioning or minor problems

All hard drives are securely wiped to remove all prior information that may be on them. If your computer doesn't meet these specs, you can still donate it and we will recycle it properly.

Other parts we need:

Keyboards and Mice
Laptop Power Adapters

Our volunteers try to revive non-working equipment, so even if it doesn't work, we might be able to use it. We CANNOT take printers, CRT monitors, or non computer-related equipment.

Ways to donate computers

We make it easy for you to donate computer equipment, with a couple ways for you to get it to us. If you are a company with a bulk donation, you may request pickup from us. We will schedule a time that we can come an haul it away. All other individuals who are looking to donate items can come to one of our drop-off locations throughout DFW. If you have any questions, or cannot access one of these drop-off locations, please contact Christy Householter at
